Specialists of AVTODOM Group conducted an internal online survey among customers as part of their own research. 800 men and women aged 18 to 50 took part in it. The survey was conducted among residents of Moscow, Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Leningrad region and Krasnodar. According to a study by AVTODOM Group of Companies, the average owner of a motorcycle is a man aged 27 to 43 years. At the same time, the proportion of women who own a motorcycle is (26%) of the total number of respondents.

The most popular professions among motorcycle owners are engineers (39%), IT specialists (27%), executives or business owners (19%), advertising and marketing specialists (15%). These professions require high mobility. This makes motorcycles one of the most convenient ways to get around the city for them.

The survey revealed that the majority of motorcyclists (75%) own a car. 28% of car owners aged 18 to 30 travel in the summer exclusively on a motorcycle. Respondents aged 30-40 (37%) use both modes of transport. Respondents aged 40 to 50 years – (35%).

Among the megacities in which the survey was conducted, the majority of motorcycle owners turned out to be in Moscow (48%), then Krasnodar – (37%). St. Petersburg is in third place – (15%).

Respondents mentioned freedom of movement (32%) and independence from traffic jams (19%) as the main reasons for choosing a motorcycle. High mobility (15%), which allows you to reduce travel time to your destination (work, home, etc.), has also become one of the key reasons for choosing a motorcycle. 10% of respondents indicated that the motorcycle provides an opportunity to get emotional release during a high-speed trip on the highway or a leisurely trip out of town.

Most motorcyclists prefer to ride alone (82%) or with a girlfriend, wife, boyfriend (46%). Only (7%) of respondents reported that they give a ride to one of their colleagues from time to time. The helmet (100%) and motorcycle gloves (98%) have become mandatory accessories for motorcycle owners. Motorcyclists wear a motorcycle jacket (94%), motorcycle boots (78%) and motorcycle pants (73%) a little less often. Every third motorcyclist (33%) has kneepads. Every fourth motorcyclist (26%) has summer equipment that protects the upper body.

“Motorcycles have a number of advantages over cars. These allow moving around the city freely and quickly and getting comfortably to the right place. At the same time, it is necessary to remember the responsibility and safety while riding motorcycles and not to neglect protective equipment. A wide selection of motorcycles and accessories from well-known global manufacturers and high-quality technical service are available to customers at the dealerships of the AVTODOM Group of Companies”, – Oleg Vorontsov, Director of the Motorcycle Direction of the AVTODOM Group, commented.
