What is a Ball Valve?
Ball valves are stop valves that use a ball to restrict or start the flow, as the name implies. Within the globe valve, the ball serves in the same capacity as the disc. The ball spins to a degree where the outlet through the ball is in line with the valve body inlet and outlet once the valve handle is operated to open the valve. The ball is spun so the hole is perpendicular to the flow apertures of the valve body, and flow is stopped, when the valve is shut, which needs only a 90-degree rotation of the hand wheel or Worm gear for most valves.
What is a Butterfly Valve?

The operation is similar to that of a ball valve, allowing for quick shutoff.
